Terms: Halfblood & Fullblood

Halfblood (see also English Halfbloods)

The crossbreed of a fullblooded (pure blooded) horse with another warmblooded horse is called in many European countries “halfblood”.  When we are talking about an offspring rich in “full-blood”, whose exterior resembles a fullblooded horse from the English Thoroughbred or the Arabian/purebred blood, we are talking about a finer halfblood “high in blood”

Fullblood = Purebred in other terms, referring mainly to Arabian purebred or the English thoroughbred.

Example: Thoroughbred = in German Vollblut (exact translation is fullblood)
