This is another plant so decorative and common in the garden as to make it seem an unlikely medicine. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is anti-bacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, vulnerary (to be given internally and externally) and, given internally, is a powerful digestive. As calendula lotion (used in homoeopathy and herbal medicines) it is an in valuable wound treatment, disinfecting and stimulating healing in a seemingly miraculous way.
